Your Word

There is one thing that when you give it,

Keep Your Word
Keep Your Word

you should keep it. That "thing" is your word.

As a professor and business owner, nothing tells me more about the content of someone's being and their behavior, motivation, personality and if you can depend on them, than their ability to "keep their word."

All too often, people will attempt to tell you what you want to hear. They'll placate you, tell you what they can do for you, and hope you become interested in them enough to hire them or create some sort of a relationship with them. Once you buy into what they're "selling," it usually doesn't take long for them to reveal themselves. It usually occurs when they don't "keep their word." Watch out for the "not keepers of their word!" You may let them have "one pass." After that, watch carefully - you may have to let them, and the bubble they seem to be in, leave your business or personal life for your own best interest.
